What is it?
UNT Map is an interactive map of the University of North Texas Campus. It was created as an experiment to see if this sort of thing is feasible, and also because I got tired of using a stupid Xerox copy of the existing campus map whenever I got a support call.
Quick Instructions:
1. Load the package onto your Newton.
2. Run it.
3. Tap on buildings.
4. Tap the overview button, and choose a building name.
Building maps of your own:
About half way through writing this thing, I realized that my code was pretty darn ugly. I've now rewritten portions of it to be more compact and modular (much better OOP). As a result, it's a pretty simple matter to plug in other maps and building definitions. If you're interested, E-Mail me and I'll be happy to mail you the development files and instructions. (Note: You do need NTK to be able to build new maps. Sorry.)
Potential Future Plans for the Map shell:
* Scrolling maps: This will allow for much larger and more device independent (MessagePad, Lindy, NewtonSlate, NewtonWhiteboard, etc.) maps to be presented.
* Integration with a GPS for a "You are here" indicator: Probably won't happen unless someone feels like donating a GPS unit.
* Using the map as a link to further building information: I think this has a lot of potential. I haven't really settled on a good way to implement it, but it would be great to be able to link a campus map to individual building maps.
